Where The Kids Go

We want to encourage healthy oral habits for children from an early age. After all, your teeth were meant to last you a lifetime.

We also want to create an environment in which your children can feel comfortable, so they don’t develop a fear of the dentist.

People often ask when children should first see the dentist. After the child’s first tooth comes in, call our office to schedule an appointment. Parents do have the option to wait a bit, but don’t wait any later than their first birthday. Children should be seen for cleanings every six months just like adults.

Support Pediatric Dental Care

When your children aren’t in our office for a cleaning, be sure to reinforce good habits at home. Encourage them to brush with fluoride toothpaste. Show them how to brush the front, back, and chewing surface of each tooth, as well as their tongue to remove bacteria that causes bad breath. In addition, be sure to demonstrate proper flossing techniques.

Instead of sugar-filled snacks after school, encourage low-sugar yogurt, fruit, or cheese and avoid anything processed with a high level of refined carbohydrates. Also keep in mind that bottled water typically does not contain fluoride. Filtered tap water is best. For more tips, feel free to give us a call.
